Working Principle

Working Principle
I. Basic Operating Principle
The plate feeder is driven by an electric motor that rotates the chain sprockets, moving the chains with attached metal plates circulating in the trough. The material is continuously and evenly transported from the hopper to the discharge end under the pushing and carrying force of the plates.
II. Main Working Mechanism
1. Transmission System
Power Source The motor reduces speed and increases torque through a gearbox; the output shaft is connected to the driving sprocket.
Chain Drive Two parallel high-strength chains wrap around the driving head sprocket and the driven tail sprocket, forming a closed circulation loop.
Plate Mounting Metal plates are transversely fixed between the two chains at uniform intervals, forming a continuous carrying and transporting surface.
2. Circulation Movement Process
Ascending Carrying Section (Working Stroke) The plates move forward at the top of the trough, carrying material from the hopper and pushing it from the loading end to the discharge end.
Descending Return Section (Idle Stroke) The plates return backward at the bottom of the trough without load; scrapers remove adhered material, and the plates prepare for the next cycle.
3. Material Transport Mechanism
Loading Process Material falls onto the plates from the hopper by gravity; the hopper gate controls the quantity, and the material is evenly distributed on the carrying surface.
Transport Process The front edges of the plates push the material forward; adjacent plates create a continuous pushing force. The material moves synchronously with the plates at a stable controlled speed (usually 0.1-0.5 m/s). The plates bear the full weight of the material, and the side walls of the trough prevent lateral spillage.
Unloading Process The plates reach the head discharge section; the chains wrap around the head sprocket and turn downward. The material separates from the plates by gravity and inertia and passes through the discharge opening to the next equipment.
4. Tensioning and Adjustment
Tensioning Device At the tail section (screw or hydraulic) maintains proper chain tension, compensates for chain elongation, and prevents slipping or derailment of the chain.
Guiding Devices (rollers or guides) limit the movement trajectory of the plates, reduce friction, and ensure smooth operation.
III. Operation Control
Speed Adjustment Frequency control provides stepless regulation; feeding capacity is proportional to speed.
Soft Start Using a frequency converter or hydraulic coupling reduces starting current and impact loads.
Interlock Connection with upstream and downstream equipment, automatic material level control, automatic stop in case of malfunction.
IV. Operating Characteristics
High carrying capacity for large heavy materials, smooth operation without vibration, uniform continuous feeding, low noise level, high adaptability for high-temperature and abrasive materials, simple structure, convenient maintenance, and individual plate replacement.
